Chris Barhorst

Chris Barhorst represents owners and managers of real estate in connection with the sale, acquisition and refinancing of affordable housing projects, insured loan transactions including multi-tiered financing transactions with bond financing, HUD mortgage insurance, subordinate debt and grants, lease enforcement, fair housing defense, and creditor’s rights issues.

Chris has practiced in the field of affordable housing for more than twenty years. His practice includes the negotiation of sale and loan documents, review of title reports and surveys, title insurance policies, negotiation and drafting of leases and preparation of closing documents for complex transactions.  His clients include lenders, developers and contractors, nonprofit corporations, homeowners associations and management agents.

His practice encompasses the following practice areas:  secured transactions, rehabilitation, acquisition, sale and financing of affordable housing; financing, sale, or restructuring of multifamily properties; formation and structuring of limited partnerships and limited liability companies; transactions involving the low income housing tax credit program (pursuant to Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code) and creditor’s rights and lease enforcement.
